When pigs fly

As I've said before, Maddie and I have the best conversations in the bathtub. This one happened last night:

Maddie (pointing to my tummy): Do you have a baby in your tummy?

Me: Nope. You were the last baby I had in my tummy.

Maddie: What about Matthew?

Me: Matthew was in my tummy before you were.

Maddie: Is he still a baby?

Me: No. He's almost 6 years old.

Maddie: What's he doing right now?

Me: Well, he's probably hanging out with Grandpa. Maybe they're feeding cows right now.

Maddie (looking doubtful): But they don't have farms in heaven.

Me: How do you know? Have you been there?

Maddie: Yes.

Me: When have you been to heaven?

Maddie: Whenever I close my eyes.

Me: And what do you see when you close your eyes?

Maddie: (grinning at me) Flying pigs! (laughs) And flying cows! And flying sheep!

So... what does heaven look like when YOU close your eyes?

When I think of heaven (and I'm not the religious sort) I of course imagine my family the way they always were...

Sitting around the kitchen table, smoking, playing whist, and talking so long that I never could stay awake. Also my grandpa had a green poker guy hat (I never remember what those are called) and an automatic card shuffler.

He used to let me sit on his lap and help him play. He taught me how to play gin and solitaire, and I'd like to think my mom's at that table again, finally getting to talk to her parents after a long time.

I hope I get to sit at that table one day. That was a fun table.

Pigs? Sheep? Cows? Sounds like a farm to me. 'Course, with their ability to fly their pens might not quite be what we're used to.

I think of where ever my Wendy is heaven for me, because I have been there before.

Funny, That picture of ccap looks so much like Wendy.
