psst - this just in...

Maddie went to visit Santa’s village with her kindergarten class yesterday. She told me in a conspiratorial whisper yesterday “Mom – Mrs. Claus isn’t real. She wears a wig!” “And Santa Claus?” I asked, “Does he wear a wig?” “Nope. He’s real.”

So there you have it – Santa’s real, but he’s married to a FAKE!

That's so cute. I always thought Mrs. Claus seemed a little off. Now I know why! :)

Really makes me miss kids. I worked in the public elementary schools for 23 years, first as an ESL teacher then counselor, before finally becoming too disabled to continue working. What I miss most are those sorts of informal moments that could occur anytime.

Like the morning I gave my introductory talk to a group of second graders one September morning, and had given examples of the kinds of "problems" I could help with. A boy raises his hand to politely inquire: "Can you help me find my lunch box?"
