"There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One is roots; the other, wings." Hodding Carter

"If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in." Rachel Carson

Mama Says Om Theme: Whimsy (Actually, I'm a day late for this theme, but since I'd planned to do this all week, I thought I'd still stick it up here.)

Wish I had been able to give those to my kids. Dan, especially. I hope they discover "roots" and "wings" for themselves.

Adorable pic!

What a terrific photo -- and isn't she the cutest little girl EVER?

And the quotes are excellent reminders. Even those of us without children need to keep that part of us alive as well. We never know when it will come in handy, even living a "grown up's" life.

I love those quotes, and the picture, stunning.
Loved the pool pics, and yes, it is the simple things that pass the days so joyfully!
